Sharp Editorial’s owner, Laci Swann, lives her passion, day in and day out, as an editor, strategist, business owner, author, and designer, successfully mastering all of the aforementioned titles throughout her career.
Laci discovered her talent for words and meaningful communication as a young girl, writing stories and illustrating books in an effort to share her feelings and thoughts. Laci's passion for language and literature has remained aflame, finding solace in the art of creative writing and the technical art of editing. Laci is a proud graduate of Florida State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English as well as her master’s degree in English Literature. As a woman committed to mastering her craft, expanding her skill set and talents, Laci pursued and earned her second master’s degree in Publishing from George Washington University.
In 2016, Laci started her own company, joining the ranks of successful female entrepreneurs, and transitioning from corporate editor to the owner of a comprehensive editorial company. As the owner of Sharp,
Laci elevates creatives of all levels through compelling word choice, linguistic details, and grammatical perfection. Her eye for detail is unparalleled, exemplified in each client’s body of work. For Laci, a self-proclaimed logophile, editorial services are not just about perfect grammar and meeting deadlines. Her style of editing and writing catapults clients towards greatness, building their futures into something grander than they had imagined. ​ In 2016, Swann released her first book, Sharing is Caring, from the "Sloan Saves the Day" children's book series. With this special anthology and all upcoming anthologies within the series, lessons fostering representation, love, and learning run rampant through the book's diverse, multicultural characters. Through Sharp Editorial, Laci has ghostwritten, developed, and edited several best-selling nonfiction and fiction bodies of work. Sharp Editorial is also responsible for several logos, websites, blogs, business strategies, resumes, and more, and her client list continues to grow as her recognition spans into an international audience. ​ In 2018, Sharp Editorial expanded to consulting and creative services. Six short months after its expansion, Sharp Editorial was awarded the Tally Award for "Best Consulting Firm" and was later nominated for the 2019 Domi Award for "Greatest Influencer." ​ Laci is committed to the personal development of all creatives, companies, and brands. She firmly believes that when individuals are given pertinent tools, specific direction, and genuine encouragement, they are able to grow to their fullest potential. ​ As a woman with a seat at the table, Laci wants to ensure others make it to the table, too, as she uses her well-established client base and rising success to make certain others can pull up a chair, specifically welcoming women entrepreneurs and urban creatives and professionals to explore their potential. ​ With a strong background in English and publishing, Laci works to elevate her clients to their most expressive, successful selves, one word at a time. Success looks different to everyone, and Laci is fully onboard with facilitating a range of goals in various capacities.
